Araucaria columnaris
COOK PINE
Common on slopes & ridges where it is naturalized, initially planted for
reforestation. Elongate conical in habit, branchlets erect and
densely clustered toward branch ends, needles initially bristle-like,
becoming thick and
triangular, bark peeling in strips. Native to New Caledonia. Often misidentified
as Norfolk Island Pine, Araucaria heterophylla.
