VELVET WEED or SMALL-FLOWERED BEE-BLOSSOM

Ascending taprooted herb of distubed roadsides naturalized near the entrance of Bellows Air Force Base in Waimanalo in 2011.  Specimens deposited in the Bishop Museum on 7/3/2013.  Plants delicate with soft hairs and 1cm flowers that wilt by mid-morning.  Native to arid portions of the United States and Mexico.
