Nestegis sandwicensis

Endemic tree with corrugated bark and glossy leaves, locally common in
dry to mesic forests from Kaua'i to Hawai'i Island. Young leaves are
glossy purplish-brown, olive-like fruit is black at maturity. Hard
wood was used for fires since it still burns when green. |
