Rare and endangered shrub of dry slopes from Pupukea to Laie on the island of O'ahu, and Mauna Loa on Moloka'i.  Opposite leaves curled, undersides densely coated with short brown hairs.  The indigenous Eugenia reinwardtiana has barely curled flat leaves and sparse brown hairs.  Endemic to O'ahu and Moloka'i.
